Milling

Milling is the process in which a machine tool is used to machine various solid materials. During the process, the machine holds the material as the drill moves to cut the workpiece. Milling machines can also move the workpiece against the rotating cutter which then cuts on the flanks and the tip.

The machines can be used to perform other complex tasks such as slot cutting, planning, drilling, diesinking, rebating, and routing. The workpiece is controlled precisely to make exact cuts and slices. The machines can be operated manually or through computer numerical control (CNC).
