Computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided
manufacturing (CAM) is the use of computer technology to
aid in various engineering, design, and manufacturing of
products. CAD can be used to design curves and figures
in 2 and 3-dimensional spaces. The output of CAD does
involve more than just design and shapes, however. The
output of the process also relays information about
materials, processes, dimensions and tolerances for the
product. After the computer design process, the
generated model is sent to the CAM software which
controls the machine tools during the manufacturing
processes. CAM can also be used to help with the
planning, management, transportation, and storage
operations in a manufacturing facility. JWD’s solid
